Crystal Lake Police Traffic Safety Detail Underway
Heading into the Labor Day weekend, law enforcement will be patrolling area streets on the lookout for drunken and distracted drivers.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A traffic safety campaign aimed at keeping drivers safe over the Labor Day holiday gets underway today in Crystal Lake, authorities said. The Crystal Lake Police Department is partnering with the Illinois State Police and local law enforcement on the campaign, which is focused on drunken drivers and unbuckled and distracted drivers, according to a news release from the police department.
The high-visibility crackdown will run from Aug. 23 through the holiday weekend and into the early morning hours of Sept. 3, police said.
"Before the fun starts this Labor Day, remember to designate a sober driver and don’t let friends or family members drive drunk," according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department. "Even a small amount of alcohol can impair judgment and reaction times, making driving unsafe."
