New Discount Retailer Opens On Northwest Highway: Here's What You Need To Know

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Daiso, a global discount store that sells Japanese-inspired home decor, stationary beauty products and food, has opened its seventh Illinois location in Crystal Lake, company representatives told Patch.

The store opened at 5548 Northwest Highway — in the former BuyBuyBaby site — in recent weeks.

"Crystal Lake is a tremendous community, we continue to see growing demand in the region and we are proud to be opening more stores in Illinois," a Daiso spokesperson told Patch in an email response.

The Crystal Lake Daiso sells three brands under one roof, including Daiso, Threeppy and Standard Products, according to the city of Crystal Lake Facebook page.

Daiso currently has seven stores open in Illinois and has plans to open at least 60 Daiso stores in the U.S. by the end of 2025, a Daiso spokesperson told Patch in an email response.
