Former McHenry County Board Member Dies Of Cancer: Obituary

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A former McHenry County Board member has died after a 2.5-year battle with cancer.

Marie M. Chmiel died at the age of 56 years old in her home, according to her obituary. She was elected to the McHenry County Board in 2004, served as the president of the Notre Dame Club of McHenry County and volunteered with youth sports programs in the area and at St. Thomas Apostle School.

Her visitation has been set for 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Avenue in Crystal Lake. A visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until prayers at 9:15 a.m. A mass will begin at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.

Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
