Man, 75, Charged With Murder In Fatal Shooting In McHenry County

The Itasca man is in custody following the December 13 shooting near Harvard.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 75-year-old Itasca man faces a murder charge following the fatal shooting of a woman near Harvard.

The shooting happened at about 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 13 in the 4500 block of Island Road in unincorporated Harvard, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Police were called to the scene of the shooting for a well-being check. When they arrived, they found a woman who had a gunshot wound and was dead, according to the news release.

They also found a man, who was later identified as Silvano Perri, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Perri, 75, of Itasca, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and later transported to the McHenry County Jail.

He's been charged with first-degree murder — intend death/great bodily harm and first-degree murder — strong probability of death/great bodily harm.

Perri is next expected in court on December 17.
