H.S. Student From Cary Picked As National Merit Scholar

​On Wednesday, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced this year's National Merit $2,500 scholarship winners.

CARY, IL —A Cary-Grove High School student has been selected as a National Merit Scholarship winner.

Erin J. Wadzinski of Cary was among 2,500 students to be picked for the $2,500 scholarships. The winners were selected from 15,000 finalists, according to a news release.

The winners were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors who appraised a substantial amount of information submitted by both the finalists and their high schools including the academic record; scores from the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test; contributions and leadership in school and community activities; an essay written by the Finalist; and a recommendation written by a high school official, according to a National Merit Scholarship press release.
