This Local School District Is Among The Best In The U.S.: Rankings

ACROSS ILLINOIS — Community High School District 155 in Crystal Lake has been ranked among the best school districts in the United States in Niche’s 2024 Best Schools and Districts rankings.

Community High School District 155 in Crystal Lake was picked as the 14th best in the state and the 69th best school district nationally, according to a report that was released this week

District 155 was among 15 Illinois school districts to rank in the Top 100 in the United States included in Niche’s ranking of 12,192 school districts nationwide. The list includes 364 newly ranked school districts.

Niche gave District 155 a letter grade of A+. Grades in specific categories were:

• Teachers: A+
• College Prep: A+
• Clubs & Activities: A+
• Administration: A+
• Sports: A+
• Food: A
• Resources & Facilities: A

Meanwhile, Illinois had the top-three ranking districts in the country, with Adlai E. Stevenson High School District in Lincolnshire picked as the No. 1 district in the U.S. in Niche's rankings.

Glenbrook High School District 125 and Evanston Township High School District 225 finished second and third, respectively.

Niche also ranked 94,058 public schools and 30,809 private schools. The platform said its rankings were created to provide families with valuable information — both quantitative and qualitative — on schools in their area or in a neighborhood they’re not familiar with yet.

Earlier this week, Niche released its list of top public high schools with Payton College Prep in Chicago, leading the way for Illinois schools and finishing ranked as the fourth best in the country.
The rankings differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that they also include input from students, alumni, and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources, and facilities.
