Man Flown To Hospital After Car Crashes Into Home In McHenry County: Authorities

The two-vehicle collision happened on Route 23 and River Road on Wednesday morning.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A man was critically injured after a car collided with a house in McHenry County Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The two-vehicle collision happened on Route 23 and River Road at about 7:50 a.m. Wednesday. When emergency crews arrived at the scene they found one of the vehicles in the intersection and the other resting against the home, according to a news release from the Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts.

The driver of the vehicle closest to the home was initially reported unconscious. He was extricated from the vehicle and taken by helicopter to a hospital in Rockford in critical condition.

The other driver was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

There were people inside the home at the time of the collision but no one was injured. The house sustained minor damage to the front porch but no structural damage to the home, according to authorities.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
