Some McHenry County Schools Close Tuesday, Others In Session

With between 7 to 11 inches of snow possible in McHenry County, some schools have decided to close Tuesday.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Winter weather in the forecast Tuesday did not deter some schools from remaining in session while others, mainly in the western portion of McHenry County, opted to close.

On Monday night, several superintendents with suburban schools districts let parents know they'd be monitoring the weather and making a decision early Tuesday as to whether to cancel classes. Still others, including schools in Woodstock and Marengo, went ahead and called classes as early as Monday afternoon.

As of 5:30 a.m., here is a look at the schools that will be closed:

On Monday afternoon, weather officials said McHenry County could be among the Chicago-area counties hardest hit by the snowstorm, with 7 to 11 inches of snow accumulation possible. A winter storm warning will take effect at 8 p.m. Monday for McHenry County and will remain in effect through Tuesday night.
