Hayley Giancaterino, a senior at St. Charles North High School, volunteers as a math tutor and is a pianist at American Grands.

ST. CHARLES, IL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Nicole Lynch who nominated Hayley Giancaterino, a senior at St. Charles North High School.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Hayley is a quiet leader in everything that she does. She is an honor student, and a member of multiple honor societies (national, math). She volunteers as an English and Math tutor and helps organize food donations at the local food pantry. She works as a math tutor for a local tutoring business off Randall Road (Mathnasium). She is a musician, playing piano and percussion. As a pianist, she performs in a yearly event called American Grands where she plays music for the community. She also plays piano for church services. As a percussionist, she is a co-captain of the St. Charles North drumline, performing at football games, basketball, and swim events. She helps coordinate "send-offs" for her fellow students who are going to state--playing the drums and collaborating with her fellow band members during a morning celebration before school. Her teachers and principal have commented on her dedication, organization, and dependability.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Hayley has worked hard in school and all of her extracurricular activities since she was a little girl. Hayley's goal was always to develop her skills and expand her knowledge. She is always thinking of others and how her actions will impact her classmates, teachers, ---she is beyond her years in maturity and responsibility. She takes pride in her school work and tutoring--trying to help the kids in her community build confidence and comfort while learning math skills.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future,Hayley Giancaterino 12th grade/Senior!
