CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A Crystal Lake couple has been reunited with their Bernese Mountain dog, which went missing last week.

David Nowak and his fiancé, Kate Belmonte, spent days trying to find Charlie before they reached out to Dog Gone Pet Recovery, a Lake Villa animal search and rescue group, which used thermal technology to track the pup down, according to ABC 7. A thermal drone was used to scan the neighborhood where the dog went missing, helping to find Charlie near Huntley and Ackman roads.

"Charlie was missing for 7 days! When we found him he was clearly injured badly. Charlie was immediately taken to hospital for care," Dog Gone Pet Recovery wrote in a Facebook post.
