Video: 'We Go Where the Facts Lead Us' in Fox Lake Probe
Task Force Commander explains why it took nearly two months to figure out G.I. Joe killed himself.
The commander of the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force explained why it took nearly two months for his investigators to figure out Fox Lake Police Lt. Charles Joseph “G.I. Joe” Gliniewicz died by his own hand in an elaborately staged suicide.
“We don’t assume, we don’t presume, we don’t jump to conclusions,” said the commander, George Filenko.
“We go where the facts lead us and until every stone is turned over, and every fact and detail is examined, and we can confidently say that this is what our conclusion is, that this is a staged suicide,” Filenko added.
Filenko also deflected a question about the state of Gliniewicz’s marriage before his death.
