Darien Cops Get 6 Citizen Complaints In 2024
In all the cases, the reports were determined to be unfounded, police said.

DARIEN, IL – Darien police received six citizen complaints in 2024, down from nine the previous year. That's out of more than 15,000 calls for service.
In its annual report, the police department said it thoroughly investigated each complaint.
In all six incidents, the allegations were unfounded, meaning the acts did not occur, Police Chief Greg Thomas told the City Council on Monday.

"That's fantastic for all the calls you guys make to only have that," he said.
In 2023, two of the nine complaints were considered founded, with officers' acts violating policy, police said. For one, an officer underwent shift-level counseling, while in the other case, an officer received a written reprimand, police said.
