An officer knocked on the window, waking up the confused driver, according to the report.
He denied he crashed into another car, saying the damage to his silver Mazda was from a post office truck a couple of weeks earlier.
Asked for his license, the man provided a blank white card, police said. Told the card wasn't his license, the man said he did not have it, but the officer saw it in the man's wallet. The man gave the license after it was pointed out.
The man said he never reported the other crash because his car is only worth $2,000. Asked why the side mirror was pushed back two weeks later, the man had no answer, police said.
The man was reported to be slurring his words and smelling of alcohol.
When an officer inquired about the man's drinking, he said he had been at the Irish Legend pub in Willow Springs, where he had two or three Coors Light beers, police said. He later increased the number to four and said that his mirror may have struck another car in the crash that just happened, police said.
At the police station, the man refused to provide a breath sample, the report said. He later took an Uber home.
