DARIEN, IL – One house was burglarized in a Darien neighborhood last week, while it appeared someone tried to break into another one, local police said. About 8 p.m. Dec. 23, police were called to the 8700 block of Lemont Road about a burglary. The homeowner told officers that she noticed a damaged doorknob and a shattered window upon her return home, police said. The only missing item was a lemonade from the refrigerator. Officers checked the house, but found no one inside. About 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve, police were called about an attempted burglary on the same block. A woman told officers that when she returned, the front storm door was open and pry marks were near the lock and door handle, police said. No one was inside, police said.
