Dark Darien Intersection May Brighten: Official

A new resident loves Darien, but wants to brighten up an intersection, an alderman said.

A streetlight may come to the intersection of Hinswood Drive and North Frontage Road. An alderman said he agreed with a resident that it is too dark in that area at night.

DARIEN, IL – A streetlight may be on the way for a Darien intersection that is considered too dark, an official said Monday.

At a City Council meeting, Alderman Ted Schauer said a constituent on Captons Lane who moved from Chicago a year ago suggested more lighting. He said the resident loves being in Darien.

The intersection is Hinswood Drive and North Frontage Road.

"Funny, I drive down there every day four or five times a day and never really realized how dark it is," Schauer said.

Schauer said he spoke with a city official and that the city would see if it could get a streetlight in that area.

It's important, he said, because of pedestrians going to Q Bar and other nearby businesses.
