Off-Duty Hinsdale Cop Helps Darien Nab Woman: Police

A woman was arrested on felony burglary and retail theft charges after an incident at a local store, authorities said.

DARIEN, IL – Darien police released their latest blotter Wednesday. Here is information from the reports:

Burglary

  • About 7 p.m. Monday, an off-duty Hinsdale police officer informed Darien police about a retail theft that occurred at Jewel, 7329 Cass Ave. The Hinsdale officer followed the suspect's car. Darien police stopped the car at Interstate 55 and Route 83. Shannon Weaver, 41, of Chicago, was arrested on two felony counts each of burglary and retail theft. She was also wanted on warrants from DuPage and Grundy counties. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

DUI

  • A 41-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 11 p.m. Saturday on charges of DUI, failure to signal, having a tinted front windshield and tinted side windows, and illegally transporting alcohol. An officer saw the man make a U-turn on Lemont Road at 83rd Street without using a turn signal. He was then seen swerving on Lemont Road approaching Cheese Road and changing lanes without signaling. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 43-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 3 a.m. Sunday on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. An officer saw the man's car run off the road and crash into trees and a fence that separates the ramp to Interstate 55 and South Frontage Road. The man was released and given a date to appear in court.

Retail theft

  • A 39-year-old Chicago man was cited about 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a local ordinance retail theft charge. Police said the man was seen on video under-scanning several items at the self-checkout counter. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

  • A 34-year-old Burr Ridge woman turned herself in to the Darien police for three warrants charging failure to appear in court. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
