Hinsdale Police Reports: Burglary, DUI, Underage Drinking
Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through Feb. 16.

Someone entered a house between Feb. 4 and 9 in the 10 block of Charleston Road and stole a watch valued at $1,100 from a master bedroom dresser. The residents believed the house was locked when they left for vacation, but the lock on a rear sliding patio door was not functioning when they returned home, and the front door was unlocked.
Someone entered a car between Feb. 8 and 9 in the 5700 block of S. Garfield Avenue while it was parked in a driveway. A bag containing brand new clothes valued at $240 and gift cards valued at $75 were reported stolen.

Police were sent to a gas station Feb. 9 in the 100 block of E Ogden Avenue for reports of a customer dispute. An employee reported a known suspect made insulting or provoking statements after becoming upset at having to wait in line to pay for gas. The person threw a wicker basket and shoved the clerk.
Someone used a victim’s identity Feb. 1 to open a credit card account and a cell phone account.

John E Totura, 36 of the 3100 block of Treesdale Court in Naperville, was stopped speeding Feb. 11 at Garfield and Chicago avenues. He was seen to be under the influence of alcohol, and he submitted to testing that showed he was over the legal limit, police reported. He was charged with DUI-alcohol, DUI over 0.08 and speeding and released to appear in court.
Someone broke a work vehicle window between Feb. 11 and 12 and stole construction tools valued at approximately $4,057 from the 100 block of S. Grant Street. The vehicle was parked in a driveway when the burglary occurred.
David A Gibbs, 41 of the 700 block of E First Street in Hinsdale, was stopped Feb. 13 at First and Columbia after a check revealed a revoked driver’s license. He was charged with driving while license revoked and released to appear in court.
Police were sent Feb. 14 to the 500 block of W Maple Street for a report of juveniles putting cases of beer into a SUV parked on the street. A 16-year-old male juvenile of River Forest was a passenger in a car that was stopped to investigate the report. He submitted to testing that indicated he consumed alcohol. A case of beer was found in the trunk of the car. The teenager was charged with unlawful use of alcohol by person under 21and released to a family member.
Someone was seen throwing an egg at a house Feb. 14 in the 600 block of W Maple Street.
