UPDATE: Saturday's Park District Movie Night Moved to Community Center

Local Darien proprietors offer up some picnic fare ideas.

What could make an evening with Woody and Buzz even better? How about the perfect picnic before the movie starts?

This weekend, the Darien Park District invites the community to watch Toy Story 3 beginning at 8:15 p.m. Saturday at .

Start the evening early by having a picnic with your family. Wondering what to pack? Sandwiches and potato chips are common picnic fare, but local businesses offer up some more creative options.

At , 7360 Route 83, traditional and contemporary dishes, including lasagna, penne, sandwiches and pizza, are available for take-out.

“The pastas are phenomenal,” Zazzo manager Becka Franco said.

For those in a hurry, Franco said most pasta dishes only take about 15 minutes to make. She also recommends the chicken parmesan sandwich.

“It’s one of my favorites,” she said.

And don’t forget dessert. At , 8117 S Cass Ave., Darien, check out the sweets table, which hosts a variety of confections all priced at 95 cents each, or pick out an assortment of cookies for $9.50.

“We have all kinds of different things,” employee Diane Castro said. “Cream puffs, canolis, brownies, strawberry tarts. It’s a real good bargain.”

In the event of inclement weather, officials will show Toy Story 3 indoors at the , 7301 Fairview Ave. Call (630) 968-6400, Ext. 103 after 3 p.m. Saturday to hear whether the movie will be shown indoors or outdoors.
