Man Faces Weapons Charge In Darien: Cops

Officers caught the suspect after being told that he was sleeping behind the wheel, police said.

DARIEN, IL – Darien police released their latest blotter Thursday. Here is information from the reports:

Weapons charge

  • Karlos Cardona, 22, of Northbrook, was arrested about 4 p.m. Sunday on a charge of aggravated possession of a weapon. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Police were called about a person falling asleep behind the wheel of a car at Speedway gas station, 7502 Cass Ave. When an officer showed up, Cardona was approaching the ramp to Interstate 55, crossing over the lines.

Retail theft

  • A 22-year-old Woodridge man was cited about 3:30 p.m. Monday on a retail theft charge. An employee of Walmart, 2189 75th St., said he tried to stop the man, who then dumped the items and left the store. An officer stopped the man in the parking lot. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

DUI

  • A 38-year-old Westmont woman was arrested about 3 a.m. Saturday on charges of DUI and speeding. She was stopped near Cass Avenue and Tall Pine Drive. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 49-year-old Woodridge man was arrested about 11 p.m. Saturday on charges of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, failure to signal and speeding. He was stopped at 75th Street and Lemont Road. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
