DARIEN, IL – Most people don't like being behind bars, but Darien police said a man earlier this week refused to leave its station's holding cell.

The 45-year-old Downers Grove man, who lives in the 400 block of 41st Street, was originally arrested on a drunken driving charge.

About 9:30 p.m. Sunday, a police officer stopped the man in the 7500 block of Cass Avenue because the man's car had extensive front-end damage and an unknown object dragging underneath, authorities said.

Police did not reveal the details of the incident, but later charged the man with battery, assault, resisting an officer, trespassing on state land and disobeying an officer's order.
