Pet Therapy Teams to Make a Difference 2015

Hinsdale Humane Society volunteers and animals will visit the Manor Care senior care facility Oct. 24.

Members of the Hinsdale Humane Society Pet Therapy Teams will participate in the 25rd Annual Make a Difference Day, the nation’s largest day of community service.

The HHS Pet Therapy Teams were invited by Manor Care in Hinsdale to take part in a meet-and-greet party on Saturday, October 24 at 2 p.m. HHS Volunteers along with their dog or cat will visit the Manor Care senior care facility to make a difference in the lives of the residents there.

“We are thrilled to be a part of Make a Difference Day again this year,” said Deborah Kraus, Pet Therapy Team Coordinator, HHS. “The residents really enjoy their time with our animals, and we love to share our therapy pets with them. Everyone has fun.”

The Hinsdale Humane Society has been a part of various pet therapy programs since 1982, including Pet-a-Pet where trained owners and their pets visit nursing home, retirement and assisted living facilities; R.E.A.D, in which owners and trained pets visit libraries, schools and learning programs to work with children on reading skills; and CARe where owners and trained dogs visit the Paulson Pediatric Rehabilitation Center of Adventist Hinsdale Hospital to help children with physical rehabilitation.
