Purse snatched from unlocked car

Someone stole a woman’s purse after she left it in her unlocked car while she picked her kids up from school around 3:15 p.m., police said. The purse held a Burberry wallet, $100 cash, an iPod, sunglasses and a key fob, as well as other items, according to the report. The total loss is about $1,365.

Home burglarized on Sean Circle

A woman living on the 1000 block of Sean Circle said someone stole a red Toro snow blower from her garage while she took groceries from her car into her home around 2:45 p.m., police said. She told police the garage door was open while she unloaded the groceries. The snow blower is worth about $400.

Shoplifting at Cass Avenue Jewel

Christine A. Saletta, 45, of the 900 block of Joliet Road in Countryside, was arrested around 2 p.m. at the Cass Avenue Jewel, police said. Store security stopped Saletta after she put orange Jewel stickers on bottles of champagne and several other items to make it look like she had paid for them, police said. Security found additional items in her backpack, according to the report. Police charged Saletta with retail theft. The value of the items was reportedly about $126.

Prescription drugs stolen from car

A backpack carrying 120 Oxycodone pills was taken from a car parked in the lot of the Cass Avenue Jewel around 4 p.m., police said. Police don’t know how the thief got into the car, according to the report.
