Street Racing Gone Bad In Darien: Cops
A driver hit the other and fled, causing the victim to lose control and leave the road, police said.

DARIEN, IL – Two men who were believed to be racing on a Darien street were charged earlier this week after one crashed into the other, police said.
About 2 a.m. Sunday, police said they were called to a hit-and-run crash at Clarendon Hills Road and Maple Lane.
The driver told officers another driver was trying to race him, so he increased his speed to 50 mph in a 30 mph zone.

The other driver merged back into the lane and struck the rear bumper of the victim's car, causing him to lose control, spin out and leave the roadway, police said.
Because of his admission, the victim, a 23-year-old Willowbrook man, was cited on charges of street racing and speeding, police said.

The next day, the other driver, a 24-year-old Willowbrook man, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing from a police officer, obstructing an officer, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving an uninsured car, illegally transporting alcohol and driving a car with a suspended registration.
Both men were released and given dates to appear in court.
In another case, a homeowner in the 900 block of Tamarack Drive on Saturday found a bullet lying near an overhead garage door, police said.
He checked the attic and noticed the bullet entered the garage through the roof, police said. It is unknown where the bullet originated.
