UPDATE: Candle Cause of Seminole Drive House Fire in Darien

Fire officials estimate the damage is between $250,000 to $300,000.

A candle in a bedroom was the cause of a fire in a home on the 7000 block of Seminole in Darien last Wednesday, said Tri-State Deputy Fire Chief Paul Ross.

Personnel from 16 fire departments responded to the blaze, which started shortly after 5 p.m., Ross said.

As of 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, smoke was still coming out of a gaping hole in the roof of the house.

One person was home at the time the blaze broke out, fire officials said, but did not sustain any injuries.

Fire officials estimate the damage is between $250,000 to $300,000.
