• CEFCU's Athlete of the Week: Avery Braden (wandtv.com) — Local high school sports fans can celebrate Maroa-Forsyth’s Avery Braden as this week’s featured Athlete of the Week, continuing WAND’s long-running spotlight on standout student-athletes. The list includes many familiar Decatur-area schools, from MacArthur and Eisenhower to Decatur Christian and Decatur Lutheran, underscoring how central Illinois talent is being recognized for excellence on and off the field.
   

• CCS generation projects are coming. New ways to track and claim their emissions must follow. (utilitydive.com) — A new carbon capture power project planned for Decatur is highlighted as one of several CCS plants that could help meet rising electricity demand while cutting emissions. The authors argue that for projects like Decatur’s to succeed, regulators and energy markets must adopt standardized certificates to track and claim their lower-carbon output, giving buyers a credible way to pay for cleaner power.
   

• Obituary-Rosalie Cynthia Pettenger (theradar.online) — Decatur readers will note that Rosalie Cynthia Pettenger was born in Decatur and leaves behind a nephew still living here, along with a large extended family. The longtime Dixon teacher and church musician is remembered for her love of music, faith, and family, with a memorial service planned in Dixon on December 20.
