$11.5M Hazel Avenue Reconstruction Project Underway In Deerfield
The project, to be completed by November, includes a full water main and roadway replacement from Waukegan Road to Wilmot Road.

DEERFIELD, IL — The Hazel Avenue Reconstruction Project, which includes the full water main replacement, roadway reconstruction and sidewalk improvements between Waukegan Road and Wilmot Road, is underway. With a price tag of $11.5 million, including nearly $5 million of grant funds, it is anticipated to be completed by November.
According to the Village of Deerfield, the project is intended to improve water system, pedestrian walkability, and provide more consistent pavement width. Alamp Concrete Contractors, out of Schaumburg, was selected as the general contractor.

- 6,400 LF of new 12” water main (abandon 10,800 LF)
- 4,000 LF new storm sewer
- 30,000 SF new sidewalk including new 6’ SW
- 7,000 Tons of asphalt
Officials said the project was designed to meet federal funding standards and was selected to receive $4.8 million in federal funding two years ago.
In its latest post regarding the endeavor, the Village said preliminary work to accommodate the project improvements, such as tree removals and ComEd pole relocations, began in late February and Alamp will start underground utility installation west of Stratford Road this month.

Alamp said the project will use daytime lane closures and detours throughout the project limits. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes during construction when possible.
