Bannockburn Police Blotter: Police Make Two DUI Arrests
The following arrest information was supplied by the Bannockburn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Karen Engert, 68, of Deerfield was arrested Friday for driving under the influence and related traffic offenses, according to Bannockburn Police reports.
Police observed Engert stopped in the straight through westbound lane of Half Day Road with a left turn signal activated. Engert began moving slowly barely avoiding a collision with another vehicle according to the report. After stopping her, police noticed a strong odor of alcohol.
Engert failed field sobriety tests and was unable to provide sufficient breath to register on a breathalyzer. She was released on her own recognizance and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. Nov. 14 in Waukegan.

Juan Villa-Ramirez, 33, of Woodridge was arrested Sunday for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a valid driver’s license and related traffic offenses, according to Bannockburn Police reports.
According to the report, police spotted Villa-Ramirez driving eastbound on Half Day Road across Waukegan Road swerving, “very close behind a vehicle in front” and fluctuating his speed.

When police stopped Villa-Ramirez, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol level of .181 in a field test. He was released on his own recognizance and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. Nov. 14 in Waukegan.
