Car Door Swings Open, Police Make DUI Arrest

Jason Cheung, 32, of Gurnee was arrested July 7 for driving under the influence of alcohol and improper parking on the roadway, according to Bannockburn Police reports

Police spotted Cheung driving westbound on Half Day Road in the vicinity of Waukegan Road, saw the passenger side door open and close while the vehicle was moving and the car driving “dangerously close” to the curb, according to the report. 

After stopping Cheung, police detected a strong odor of alcohol in the car and on his breath after he exited the vehicle, according to the report. He failed field sobriety tests and recorded a .129 blood alcohol level. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. August 14 in Waukegan.
