Chick-fil-A Cow ‘Donates’ Blood to Inspire Real Heroes
Blood drive offers food, fun, and a shot at a $30,000 car — all to help patients like Gianna.
The Chick-fil-A Cow may not technically be able to donate blood — but that didn’t stop it from rolling up a sleeve (or a hoof!) to help promote a lifesaving event in Deerfield.
On Thursday, July 17, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., the Cow will be cheering on donors at Chick-fil-A Deerfield (75 S. Waukegan Road), where a Vitalant Bloodmobile will be parked outside collecting donations to help patients in need. It’s all part of a special blood drive hosted by Gianna, a local woman whose life was once saved by blood donors.
At just eight years old, Gianna began experiencing dizzy spells that led to a diagnosis requiring multiple blood transfusions. Now an adult, Gianna is giving back by encouraging others to donate.

“I wouldn’t be here without blood donors,” she said. “Being part of this drive is a way to give back and help someone else in need.”
All presenting donors will receive a Chick-fil-A gift card good for an Original Chicken Sandwich or 8-count Nuggets, plus a free dessert coupon. And everyone who donates will be entered to win a new car valued up to $30,000, thanks to Vitalant’s Summer Car Giveaway.
