Coronavirus: Deerfield Fashion Designer Producing Face Masks
Mimika Designs, a Deerfield custom clothing designer, is producing face masks designed to reduce permeability more than cotton masks.

DEERFIELD, IL —Mimika Designs, a custom clothing designer in Deerfield, is producing reusable masks with reduced permeability through the coronavirus pandemic. The unique design offers a tighter fit to the face and allows users to insert a blue shop towel or other filter to reduce the transfer of particles.
These masks can be washed or boiled for 20 seconds. Prices range from $15 to $25 depending on size, design and other specifications.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises the use of simple cloth face coverings for the general public, as opposed to surgical masks or N95 respirators, which must be reserved for health care workers and emergency personnel.
