​David Alan Marks, age 88

David Alan Marks, age 88 of Deerfield, passed away on April 4, 2023. His devoted wife and best friend of 60 years, Lois (Stretch) Marks predeceased him. He is survived by his cherished daughters Susan Mason (Larry), Ellen Marks (Alex Kandel) and Jami Jacobs (Michael); his adored grandchildren Samantha Renton (James), Sarah Mason, Zoe Mason, Caleb Marks-Kandel, Ethan Jacobs, Ben Jacobs, Hope Marks-Kandel and his sister Roberta (Gene) Douglis. In addition to his wife Lois, he is predeceased by his granddaughter, Verity Marks-Kandel. David was the project architect for Water Tower Place and designed many other notable buildings throughout the Chicago area and the world as a principal at Loebl Schlossman and Hackl. He used his many talents to help others through his work with Shriners Children’s Hospital, the Salvation Army and the Deerfield Plan Commission. He even designed the chapel at Makom Solel Lakeside. He was also a talented painter, specializing in figurative work. David was an avid tennis player at Bannockburn Club and Birchwood Club for many years. Most of all, he loved his family. He adored his wife Lois and was the most devoted, patient and loving husband. He was a true inspiration and always there for his children and grandchildren. He loved them with all his heart.
