Deerfield High School closed at 1:10 p.m. today at the end of fourth period because of the temperature and heat index, according to an email from Township High School District 113 Communications Director Melinda Vajdic.
Buses will run a normal schedule at dismissal, according to the email. All after school activities including home and away athletic events are cancelled.
No decision has been made about Wednesday but the situation will be monitored. “School is on as scheduled tomorrow,” Vajdic said of. “We’re monitoring the weather forecast and it looks cooler for tomorrow.”
