According to both the Chicago Tribune and the Sun-Times, the boaters called for help using a handheld marine radio at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. When a boat crew from Station Wilmette Harbor arrived about forty minutes later, they found two men and two children in lifejackets, floating in 58 degree water. All four showed signs of hypothermia.
The identities of the four people -- a 43-year-old man from Deerfield, a 41-year-old man from Highland Park, a 13-year-old boy from Highland Park and an 11-year-old girl from Highland Park, will not be released, according to both the Tribune and the Sun-Times.
