Faulty Tail Light Leads to Drug Bust

Possession of Cannabis and More 

Jeremy Jarger, 18, of Highland Park was arrested August 8 for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a fraudulent identification card and a non working tail light, according to Deerfield Police reports

After stopping Jarger for driving with a tail light which was not illuminated in the vicinity of Deerfield and Waukegan Roads, police noticed a strong odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle, according to the report. Jarger admitted there was cannabis in his gym bag in the trunk. During the course of the investigation, police also found a glass smoking pipe and a second identification card which police determined was fraudulent. Jarger was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 8:45 a.m. Sept. 2 in Waukegan.

Samuel Levin, 18, of Riverwoods was arrested August 6 for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor, according to Deerfield Police reports

After receiving a complaint about five people possibly engaging in underage drinking in the vicinity of Waukegan and Deerfield Roads, police discovered a beer can in Levin’s vehicle, according to the report. After further investigation, police found a green leafy substance believed to be cannabis and a pipe used to smoke it. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court Sept. 17 in Park City.

Drivers License Infractions and More

JR Luna, 43, of Glenview was arrested August 7 for driving with a suspended license and driving without a seat belt, according to Deerfield Police reports. After stopping Luna for the seat belt violation, police learned his license was suspended. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 17 in Park City. 

Criminal Damage to Property 

An unknown person attempted to pry open the door to the shelter at Maplewood Park between 11 a.m. August 1 and 5:01 p.m. August 3, according to Deerfield Police reports. On investigation, police observed a broken door handle and pry marks on the plate of the handle.
