Gallery: Deerfield Promotes Three Officers

Three members of the Deerfield Police Department—Bill Annen, Juan Mazariegos and Chuck Horstein—moved up in rank in front of a standing room only crowd Monday during a meeting of the Village Board of Trustees.
Annen was promoted from sergeant to commander while Mazariegos and Horstein took the oath as sergeants.

Family members as well as officers from both the police force and the Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District were on hand to watch the honors prompting Community Relations Commission Chairman Chris Foltz to call it the “safest room in American.”
The promotions were not the only recognition bestowed Monday. Barbara Reich received the Village’s Community Service Award. She chairs Deerfield Family Days July 3 and 4, is active in the Deerfield Optimists and Relay for Life.
