Judge Allows New DNA Tests in Marni Yang Murder Case

Yang was convicted of killing former Chicago Bear Shaun Gayle's pregnant girlfriend in Deerfield.

New DNA tests will be run on the shell casings from the bullets that killed former Chicago Bears player Shaun Gayle’s pregnant girlfriend seven years ago in an attempt to exonerate convicted killer Marni Yang, according to an article in the Lake County News-Sun.

In 2011, Yang received two life sentences for killing Rhoni Reuter and her unborn child. Prosecutors said she shot Reuter in Reuter’s Deerfield apartment because Yang, who had a sexual relationship with Gayle, was jealous of Reuter.
