Lakeshore Recycling To Become Deerfield's New Residential Waste Hauler
The village is answering residents' frequently asked questions about the new system, set to begin pick-up this April.

When will my new carts be delivered?

Carts will start being delivered the week of March 22. If you are traveling that week, please arrange with a neighbor or friend to bring your containers to the backyard or garage. Leave your Waste Management carts out after your last collection in March for them to come back and pick up.
Will my bill go up?
No. Monthly pricing is $7.77, same as under the current contract with Waste Management. The price is the same for all households no matter the size of the carts they choose. It will continued to be billed by the Village.
Can I sign up for backdoor service?
Yes. Backdoor service is available for garbage and recycling for $15 per month. This is billed separately by Lakeshore. To set up service, contact Lakeshore at 844.NEED.LRS or Service@LRSrecycles.com.
Can I change my cart size?
Yes. Click here or call 844.NEED.LRS to register a different cart size from Lakeshore. Default sizes are 95-gallon waste and recycling carts for single family homes and 65-gallon waste and recycling carts for most townhomes.
Is my collection day changing?
Deerfield will now be serviced on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (see map above). Should your service day be changed, you will be notified of the new day by a sticker that will be placed on your cart, as well. On your regular collection day, have your carts out for service by 7 a.m.
What is the new compost program?
As part of the Village’s new contract with LRS, residents can place organic material and food waste out for weekly collection. Each single-family home will be delivered one 35-gallon cart to be used for organics (food waste/yard waste). This service is provided as part of your regular monthly charges and will be collected on the same day as your waste and recycling service. Yard waste included in the cart does not require a sticker.
How do I start composting?
To assist residents learn how to fully utilize their new 35-gallon curbside composting container, the Village will have compost toolkits available to residents on a first-come, first-serve basis, while supplies last. The toolkit will include a free 2-gallon kitchen compost pail, sample compostable liner bags (BPI Certified) and compost educational materials and tips. What do I do with my old Waste Management Stickers?
The Village will announce special hours of operation starting the first week of April for residents to swap out their old yard waste stickers for new Lakeshore Recycling yard waste stickers. Any yard waste in your compost cart does not require a sticker.
