Schools Return to Normal Schedule Wednesday

After dismissing students early today or moving them around to keep them cool, Deerfield’s schools will return to a normal schedule Wednesday, according to sources affiliated with the schools.

Deerfield High School sent students home at 1:10 p.m. today and cancelled all after school activities. “We’re monitoring the weather but the forecast tomorrow is in the 80’s,” Communications Director Melinda Vajdic said.

In Deerfield Public Schools District 109, students at Kipling and Walden Elementary Schools, which do not have air conditioning, were moved today to other facilities which had cooling systems for the afternoon.

Though District 109 Superintendent Michael Lubelfeld plans to have all students at their regular school add day Wednesday, District officials are watching the weather.

“It appears temperatures may be cooler tomorrow, but we are preparing for multiple scenarios to ensure that staff and students are safe, comfortable and productive,” Lubelfeld said in an email. We will keep the community informed about any changes in our regular schedule.”
