Village Of Deerfield: Hazel Avenue Reconstruction Project Update

The Hazel Avenue Reconstruction Project includes the full water main replacement, roadway reconstruction and sidewalk improvements between Waukegan Road and Wilmot Road. This project was designed to meet federal funding standards and was selected to receive nearly $5 million in federal funding in 2023.

Preliminary work to accommodate the project improvements, such as tree removals and ComEd pole relocations, began in late February and the contractor will start underground utility installation west of Stratford Road in early March. The contractor anticipates completing the project by Thanksgiving 2025. This project will use daytime lane closures and detours throughout the project limits. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes during construction when possible.
