Village Of Deerfield: Message From Mayor Shapiro
"This spring, as the flowers bloom and the days get longer, let's embrace all that is possible in Deerfield," Mayor Daniel Shapiro says.

Spring is a season that reminds us all of the promise of new beginnings and of the power that comes from working together as a community.
As we celebrate this time of renewal, we also recognize two important holidays — Easter and Passover. Both holidays are deeply rooted in themes of hope, redemption and the power of renewal. Easter marks the resurrection, a symbol of fresh starts and endless possibilities. Passover is a time for reflection on liberation and freedom, reminding us of the strength that can be found in community by standing together to overcome challenges.

And as we reflect on these meaningful traditions, we are also reminded of the remarkable changes happening in our Village — changes that fill us with a sense of collective progress and pride.
Deerfield is a village that is thriving. Our retail sector — one of the cornerstones of our economy — has one of the lowest vacancies in the region. That’s a testament to the strength of our community, and it’s something we should all be proud of. Small businesses, entrepreneurs and hardworking families breathe life into this village every single day. We continue to welcome new businesses to Deerfield, like a new restaurant that will soon open its doors downtown, a symbol of how our community continues to grow, and how we make sure that Deerfield remains a vibrant, welcoming place to live and work.

But it’s not just about businesses, it’s about families, too. Over the next few years, we will see the development of over 700 new residential units. That’s 700 new homes — 700 new opportunities for families to put down roots, to raise children and, for many, to age in place. In doing so, we are ensuring that Deerfield remains a community for everyone — young families, empty nesters, seniors and all of those who call this great village home.
In addition to the development of these new residential areas, we’re also seeing reinvestment in our corporate campuses resulting in more than 600 new jobs to Deerfield in the next few years. This will help to strengthen our economy and fuel the growth and success of our community.
This spring, as the flowers bloom and the days get longer, let’s embrace all that is possible in Deerfield. We are a community that knows how to come together, and how to face our challenges head on and our future with optimism. Let’s celebrate this season of renewal, and let’s continue to build on the foundation of hope, progress and community that makes Deerfield the great village that it is.
Thank you,
Mayor Daniel C. Shapiro
