The Village of Deerfield is moving forward with a significant step toward sustainability and long-term energy savings. Construction begins mid-October 2025 on a 574.6 kW-DC ground mount solar array at the Village’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project is expected to be completed by the end of December 2025.

This initiative advances the goals of Deerfield’s Climate Action Report, which sets ambitious objectives to reduce emissions by 45% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. By securing all available state, federal, and utility incentives, the Village has offset more than 70% of the total project cost.
