Walgreens Makes Top 5 for Chicago's Largest Publicly Traded Companies
Crain's Chicago Business has released a its list of the top 142 largest publicly traded companies in Chicagoland.

With revenue of $71.63 billion in 2012, Deerfield-based Walgreens is No. 3 on a list of the top 142 largest publicly traded companies in Chicagoland, as compiled by Crain's Chicago Business.
Walgreens, which has 240,000 employees, had a 2012 net income of $2.1 billion, which is 21.6 percent less than the previous year. Its 2012 profit margin was 3 percent, according to Crain's.
Topping the list for the second year with revenue of $90.56 billion is Decatur-based Archer Daniels Midland Co., which makes agricultural products.

Chicago-based Boeing Co. lands at No. 2 with revenue of $81.70 billion.
Caterpillar Inc., based in Peoria, is No. 4 with $65.88 billion in revenue. North Chicago-based Abbott Laboratories rounds out the top 5 with revenue of $39.87 billion.

The combined revenue of all 142 companies on the list totals $912.4 billion, reported Crain's.
