Season Opener:                     Deerfield opens the season at 7:30 p.m. Monday against Palatine in the Ed Mollitor Tournament there.

Season Outlook:                    Five of the top seven players in terms of minutes played from last year’s team return this season. “Our kids play very hard and understand our offensive and defensive systems well,” first-year Coach Dan McKendrick said. “We have a variety of skilled players that are interchangeable, so I think we can go eight or nine deep without a drop-off in execution or talent.”

McKendrick sees developing the defense as a key opportunity for the Warriors. “Our biggest challenge is to create a defensive identity,” he said. “We have the athletic ability to be a solid defensive team, but we have to develop the proper habits as a team in order to improve on that end of the floor. Our ability to improve defensively and limit offensive rebounds will greatly impact our chance for success this year.”
