Deerfield WNBA Star Competes In Charity Contest

Chicago Sky star Allie Quigley, who lives in Deerfield, advanced to the semifinals of a charity HORSE competition.

DEERFIELD, IL — Allie Quigley, a point guard for the Chicago Sky who lives in Deerfield, advanced to the semifinals of a charity HORSE competition between NBA and WNBA players aired by ESPN. In order to adhere to social distancing requirements as a result of the coronavirus, all players are shooting hoops from home and filming the outcomes.

In a game of HORSE, a player gains a letter if they are unable to make a shot that was declared and made by their opponent. The first player to accumulate all five letters of the word "horse" is the loser. In the opening round, Quigley defeated NBA all-star Chris Paul. Also winning their first rounds were retired NBA star Chauncey Billups and current all-stars Mike Conley Jr. and Zach LaVine.

The semifinal round is scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday, with the championship round taking place later in the day. State Farm will donate over $200,000 on behalf of the participants to charities dedicated to coronavirus response efforts.
