300,000+ could attend celebration at Des Plaines shrine
Shrine staff expect parishioners from throughout the Midwest

Des Plaines Police Chief William Kushner said around 300,000 people attended the Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration last year, according the Chicago Tribune. He said the number of parishioners could be higher this year depending on the weather.
The shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe is based on the Catholic belief that the Virgin Mary appeared Mexico in 1531.
The celebration starts at 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, and it will continue through Monday, December 12.
