Des Plaines Students Named National Merit Scholars

Two Des Plaines students have been given the Merit Scholar designation by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the Daily Herald reports.  

• Benjamin F. Brissette, of Des Plaines and Maine West High School. Probable career field: Education (College Professor)
• Anne Marie Urban, of Des Plaines and Willows Academy. Probable career field: Biology

The students are three of 2,500 scholars nationwide. They were judged based upon “their abilities, skills, and accomplishments–without regard to gender, race, ethnic origin, or religious preference,” according to the National Merit website.
