Elk Grove Township is once again preparing to spread holiday cheer through its annual giving programs, offering three meaningful ways for residents and businesses to support neighbors facing financial hardship this season.

As summer gently fades, the Township is already embracing the spirit of the season by launching its holiday programs. This initiative aims to meet the growing needs of local families and ensure that no one misses out on the joy and comfort the holidays bring.

“Our mission is simple but heartfelt: to make sure every Township family facing hardship can still experience the warmth and traditions of the holiday season,” said Township Supervisor John Scaletta. “Thanks to the incredible generosity of our residents, we’re able to provide Thanksgiving meals, holiday gifts for children, and thoughtful surprises for our senior neighbors.”

This year’s holiday programs include:

Thanksgiving Donation Drive – With a fundraising goal of $14,000, this effort will ensure that families who rely on the Township Food Pantry - serving more than 1,100 residents each month - can celebrate with a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Monetary donations will go directly toward purchasing the needed food items.

Holiday Gift Drive – Community members can help brighten a child’s holiday by donating $50 gift cards to local retailers. Parents will then be able to choose meaningful gifts for their children - which they would otherwise not be able to afford. Registration information will be available in the fall Township newsletter, arriving in mailboxes in October.

Older Adult Angel Tree – Beginning November 1, Angel Trees will be on display in both lobbies of the Township office at 600 Landmeier Road, Elk Grove Village. Each ornament will feature a holiday wish from a low-income senior (65+). Residents are invited to select an ornament and fulfill a senior’s request, helping to bring joy to older adults in our community.

“These programs are a true reflection of the compassion and generosity of Elk Grove Township,” Scaletta added. “When neighbors come together, we can make the holiday season brighter for everyone.”
