Get Out: Mexican Independence Celebration, Annual Pow Wow, More

59th Annual Traditional Pow Wow
When/Where: Friday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Busse Woods South, Higgins Avenue and Route 53 in Elk Grove Village.
Why Go: Co-presented with the American Indian Center of Chicago, the Forest Preserve District of Cook County brings this annual Chicago-area Pow Wow back to the outdoors.
Experience Native American dance, drumming, food, art, wares and fun. Competitors of traditional native dance come from all over the country to perform.

Pricing: Suggested donation for Saturday and Sunday is $8 Adults and $4 for kids, seniors and active military. Three day and group passes are also available. Friday is free for schools. Contact cyndee@aic-chicago.org for more information to sign up your school group.

Why Go: For the seventh year supporters of SuperSibs! will train and fundraise for the Chicago Half Marathon. Athletes of all different ages and fitness levels are welcome Whether you are a casual morning mall walker or an Olympic athlete, our certified marathon coach will provide you with the training, tools and resources you need to cross the finish line safely.
SuperSibs! is a nonprofit organization based in Palatine that provides support to over 30,000 siblings of children with cancer.

When/Where: Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7-8, 5-10 p.m. on Friday and from noon until 10 p.m. on Saturday at 720 Garden St. in Park Ridge.
Why Go: The cozy and picturesque near-northwest suburb of Park Ridge will celebrate its hometown charms with saucy toppings, cool tunes and more at the inaugural Park Ridge Pizza Fest.
In addition to pizza from Georgio's, Caponie's Trattoria and Beggars, and a kids' area with inflatables and crafts, Friday night's music stage headliner is legendary Brit rockers Foghat. On Saturday it's acclaimed guitarist Daryl Stuermer of Genesis/Phil Collins fame.
