The Illinois Muslim Chamber of Commerce has formally established a new office in Glen Ellyn
Illinois Muslim Chamber of Commerce (ILMCC) is to empower and assist Muslim companies and entrepreneurs in the state.
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, the Illinois Muslim Chamber of Commerce (IMCC) officially opened a new office in the Village of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. State Senator Laura Ellman, State Representative Terra Costa Howard, and Glen Ellyn Village President Jim Burket were among the local politicians present for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the event.
The goal of the Illinois Muslim Chamber of Commerce (ILMCC) is to empower and assist Muslim companies and entrepreneurs in the state. It promotes economic expansion, gives useful tools, and presents a plethora of networking and lobbying opportunities. In order to provide a favorable business climate and access to opportunities, including government contracts, the group aggressively advances the interests of Muslim companies by collaborating with legislators and governmental organizations. There are about 600 business members of the Illinois Muslim Chamber of Commerce.
Founded in 2019, the Illinois Muslim Chamber of Commerce seeks to give members of the Muslim community a forum for networking, mutual assistance, entrepreneurship, and community integration. Additionally, they concentrate on empowering Muslim enterprises, bridging gaps left by other groups, and assisting them in overcoming obstacles.
Office Address and Upcoming Plans With aspirations to expand their work throughout the area and even the entire state, the organization views the new office in Glen Ellyn as a significant milestone and a "home". Because there are a lot of enterprises in the Village of Lombard, there is also talk about collaborating together.
a landmark that is far more than just a specific place. It represents a route of economic empowerment, community growth, and a community's commitment to actively participating in and contributing to the larger business and civic landscape of our state and country.
"We have always believed that one of the best ways to strengthen any community is through entrepreneurship, collaboration, and showing up as active partners in the communities we live in," stated Shafiq Abu Bakar, Founder and President of the Illinois Muslim Chamber of Commerce. This Chamber was established with the goal of assisting small enterprises, generating possibilities, and fostering deep linkages between communities.

Village President Jim Burket, Trustee Robert "Bob" Duncan, State Senator Laura Ellman, State Representative Margaret DeLaRosa, DuPage County Board Member Lynn LaPlante Allaway, Glen Ellyn Chamber Board President Elyse Kennard, and former CIOGC Chair Irshad Khan were among those present at the opening ribbon-cutting ceremony. Their comments highlighted the value of collaboration, inclusivity, and our Chamber's place in the larger economic system.
Shafiq Abu Bakar thanked everyone for continuing to support this endeavor at the conclusion of the event. Our mission has always been and will be to support the success of small enterprises, act as a link between communities, and make a significant contribution to the civic and economic development of our area.
