Levee Credited for Saving Homes During Flood

Levee 50 functioned properly during last week's heavy rains, keeping many homes on the east side of town dry, the Journal & Topics newspaper reports.

Homes that used to flood during heavy rains were spared last week thanks to Levee 50, the Journal & Topics reports.

The levee is powered by gates and pumps to keep water levels at bay east of the Des Plaines River. City officials credit Levee 50, which was created several years ago, for keeping many homes dry during the April floods, the newspaper reports.
